Sipoonkorpi National Park is located only about 25km north east from the center of Helsinki. We will have a short walk in Sipoonkorpi National Park, where you can see forest landscapes and enjoy the peace of nature and take a breath of truly clean air.Just next to Sipoonkorpi is located Kuusijärvi, which is a popular outdoor recreational center. There you can find by summertime a large sandy beach and by wintertime supreme ice swimming possibilities.
Kuusijärvi have many traditional Finnish saunas and is famous especially their public smoke saunas. Sauna prices are between 4.50-13 € per person. Electrical saunas: Adults 6.50 €, Children (7–17 years)/Student/Pensioner/Unemployed 4.50 €, family ticket: 17 € (2 adults+max. 3 children). Smoke saunas: Adults 13 €, Children (7–17 years)/Student/Pensioner/Unemployed 8 €, family ticket: 30 € (2 adults+max. 3 children). Swimming in the lake is free of charge. Towel/swimwear rent is 4€. The world-famous Finnish sauna is an essential part of Finnish culture. Sauna is a place to relax with friends and family and gives a possibility for both mental and physical relaxation. There are 5 million people in Finland and over 3 million saunas! For this reason visiting a true traditional Finnish sauna can be even called a must-do-thing for all visitors in Finland.
After sauna there is a possibility for you to swim in a Lake Kuusijärvi year-round. At wintertime there is made a hole in the ice for swimmers. So remember to take you swimwear and towel with you! Also, there is a renting possibility for towels and/or swimming suits. Smoke saunas are unisex-saunas and therefore swimming suits are required.
We recommend clothing according to the weather. Hiking shoes are perfect, but you survive also fine with normal walking shoes or sneakers. Beach flip flops or high heels are not recommended. Also, taking some extra clothes, like warm pullover or waterproof jacket might be a good idea. If it's raining, we have ponchos to borrow. Especially, if it is hot weather, it is recommended to take also a small water bottle with you.
Kuusijärvi Sauna Experience trip is mostly available on Thursdays. Also, we are having some extra departures, which you can check on our booking site.
